Currently, we have around 40,700 trees at Finca la Torre, some of which are over 150 years old:
8,300 trees planted in 1840
26,000 trees planted in 2001
6,400 trees planted in 2019
We have four olive varieties: Arbequina, Cornicabra, Hojiblanca and Picuda.

Arbequina
This variety has become very popular in recent years due to its easy mechanisation. Its fruits are characteristically very small, rounded and normally appear grouped in the form of clusters. It has a medium oil yield, but has very consistent levels of production.

Cornicabra
This variety is predominantly cultivated in the central area of the Spanish Peninsula. It is characterised by its great adaptation to limestone soils and adverse weather conditions. It has high resistance to detachment, making mechanisation difficult. It has significant alternate bearing (alternation of abundant harvests with other years of little or nothing), but its oil yield is high.

Hojiblanca
Cultivated mainly in the provinces of Cordoba and Malaga, this variety can be used either for table olives or to make oil. It is undoubtedly the best adapted to limestone soils and drought, but it has substantial alternate bearing.

Picuda
This variety is very common in mountain olive groves in the province of Cordoba, sometimes alternating with Hojiblanca. It is very hardy and vigorous. It has high levels of production, although it also presents alternate bearing. Its resistance to detachment and sensitivity to tuberculosis means this variety is not very widespread.
